Media Analysis
The media, although considerably limited by its well- documented liberal bias, has often attempted to portray the upcoming zombie holocaust. Assuming these portrayals to be geared towards "entertainment," zd.o's research staff has taken it upon themselves to review various media in an effort to help sluice through misinformation and outright lies. We hope that the information contained herein will help the informed survivor make intelligent decisions regarding their consumption.
Books, Comics, Religious Pamphlets Book: "Cell" by Stephen King Would the real Stephen King write a zombie-related novel and not have a sex scene in it? You heard it here first, constant readers. Stephen King died in that accident, and we have no idea who's sitting in front of his PowerBook. Book: "The Zombie Survival Guide" by Max Brooks Sometimes, when you're the son of "Hollywood Elites," you think that your opinion is valuable. This fella was partially right. Comic: "The Walking Dead" Trade Paperbacks (vol. I and II) by Robert Kirkman, Tony Moore, and Charlie Adlard Is there a comic in the world that can prepare you more effectively for the necropalypse than the Family Circus? The answer probably won't surprise you. Movies, Filmstrips, Talkies Movie: Dawn of the Dead (1978) directed by George Romero Racist cops? Check. Rampaging mobs? Check. Shamblors? Damn straight. Useful information? Let's face it - it's as good as instructional materials get. Movie: Dawn of the Dead (2004) directed by Zack Snyder It's kinda like the original, except this one is entirely a work of fiction. Movie: Day of the Dead directed by George Romero As if you needed any proof that the attempted domestication of zombies was a horrid idea. Movie: Kibakichi 2 (2004) directed by Tomoo Haraguchi Sumimasen, shitagi o akenaide kudasai. Chotto gikochinai desu. I'm not even kidding. Movie: Land of the Dead directed by George Romero The last of the quadrology. Dr. Romero has saved some of his most fascinating and troubling portents for one last, brilliant film. Movie: Night of the Living Dead directed by George Romero The first pivotal volume in Romero's quadrology of zombie documentaries. Classic, gray, and accurate. Movie: Shaun of the Dead directed by Edgar Wright Didn't think the British could do much beyond making tea and mangling the English language? You, my good man, are in for a tepid surprise. Movie: 28 Days Later directed by Danny Boyle This movie is total horseshit. Oh, it's funny to watch people get "all ate up," but is it worth the fast-mover lies? Albums, Songs, Bands, Epilepsy Band: the Zombies - Pop/Rock (1962-1967) Through dedicated preparation you can make sure you will be ready when it is "The Time of the Season." Song: "Zombie" by the Cranberries Common sense dictates that a band called "The Cranberries" is poorly equipped to handle the necropalypse. Similarly, we humbly suggest that their rockin' hit single may not be the best preparation tool. Things So Worthless That They Cannot Be Categorized Game: "ZOMBIES!!!" from Journeyman Press Sure, we all like setting stuff on fire. That's entirely unrelated to this game, however. This game's about zombies, and it's pretty good at teaching life lessons. T-Shirt: "In Case of Zombies" designed by Olly Moss We turned the other cheek when Chumbawamba surfaced in the late 90's, but this... This is unacceptable. T-Shirt: "Zombie Donkey" designed by Alex May T-Shirts, although typically an excellent source for all kinds of survival tips, are occasionably fallible. |
